Donald Linton, CPA, CFP, Principal

A Frederick native, Don began the public accounting practice of Linton, Shafer & Company in 1965 after working in the private and government sectors. He holds a B.S. from the University of Maryland, a Certified Financial Planner certificate from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, and the Personal Financial Specialist designation from the American Institute of CPAs.  He is also an Accredited Estate Planner through the National Association of Estate Planners.  Don specializes in financial planning, tax and pension planning, and creating nonprofit organizations and charitable foundations.

Previous board memberships include: the Greater Frederick Development Corporation (GFDC); the Board of Trustees at Hood College, where he was Chair of the Finance and Investment Committee; a five-year term on the Board of Trustees at Frederick Community College; and a six-year term on the Maryland Higher Education Investment Board that oversees the Maryland Prepaid College Trust (Section 529 Plans).  He has served as president on the boards of the Scott Key Center, Frederick Kiwanis, and the Jeanne Bussard Center.
